The Work That You Do

The Work you do, the work you deliver each and every day is not code, words, invoicing, testing, account reconciliation, requirements, project management, or any of the other tasks that might be in your job description that you signed up to do.

The Work That you do, that you bring to the table, is rooted in so much more.

It’s how you lead yourself and others when things aren’t going your way.

It’s your ability to show up and keep showing up and by extension having your team show up when the work isn’t going away.

It’s the polish you put on your work to make it that much better, to make it sing.

It’s the extra time you spend at your lunch or after work, helping a struggling teammate figure out a task that they have been stuck on for far too long.

It’s taking a bug or ticket off of an overwhelmed teammate to get the next release out the door.

It’s being the informal, not on the org structure, leader that the team needs.

It is all these things and more that are not written down on any job description and yet we spend 4 — 5 interviews trying to figure out if you are that person by having you jump threw hoops and do a bunch of tests.

This is the work you do, this is the work that we are looking for, because this is the work that grows leaders and takes teams to the next level.

Look at that list, again, everyone wants that person on their team, without hesitation.
