Why is TechDebt always a New Year Question?

Every New Year, I see a familiar refrain in the first new posts of the New Year.

Tech Debt.

How to cancel it?

How to fix it?

How to erase it?

How to get rid of it?

All these questions and more on how to kick off your year working on some of the heaviest problems your organization has.

Tech Debt Is a Problem

There is no discounting that Tech Debt it is a big problem. Depending on the size and age of your organization, you either have a little debt or a lot. The bigger you are, invariably the more you have.

But starting off the New Year with it? It feels like this should be an End of Year discussion BEFORE starting off the New Year with all the great new things you are going to do.

All that to say, if you are starting the New Year off tackling some Tech Debt here are some strategies that might help to get everyone on board.
